A family of lions is known as a “pride”. Most lions will remain in the same pride their entire lives. A pride of lions exists to protect each other, provide for each other, and train the next generation. With our No Longer Fatherless LION PRIDE, we hope to create a community of supporters who believe in our mission to recruit, train, and match mentors with boys growing up without a father figure. Growing up fatherless can lead to unfortunate outcomes such as prison, high school dropouts, drug use, fighting, runaways, and even youth suicide. Mentoring changes that! One NLF mother said, “This program took her sons from becoming a statistic, to becoming victors.” Multiple NLF mentors have been called “dad” by their mentees; it shows the impact these mentors can have. We have testimonials of mothers within our program, in tears, talking about how much our mentors mean to their family. NLF is undoubtedly impacting generations to come within our community.

As our organization gets larger, so do our costs. We need to continue to grow our support as our reach expands. A donation of $50 a month, or more, can go a long way for No Longer Fatherless! This could cover the entire cost of one of our events. For example, it costs about $600 to take a group of mentors & boys to a Jacksonville Jaguars game. The Jaguars donate our tickets, we rent discounted vans from Budget Rental, provide breakfast, drinks and snacks for the group, and pay for parking. With your monthly donation, you created a memory that will last a lifetime for dozens of our mentors & boys.

That is also a similar cost for each of our mentor training classes; we host at least four classes per year. From our latest class, we matched 7 new mentors with 7 young men from our waiting list. In order to complete a training class, we rent a venue, provide binders, supplies and materials, drinks, snacks, and one dinner for the group. Your donation just helped add 14 families to our program and shrink our waiting list.
